A Weekend of Two Wheeled Adventure at Klatt's

Dusty Klatt and his magical floating helmet

Just returned from a great weekend up in Campbell River on Vancouver Island. Dusty Klatt holds an annual BMX jam at his place in CR and I always try and make a point to come out for it. It's a fun time and a chance to shoot something else other than just the usual moto stuff. Klatt can hold his own in the BMX scene so it's fun to try and come up with some new images. This year I had more than just good BMX riding to get me on the ferry as with Dusty just clinching the 2010 Canadian Motocross National Championship we set it up to do some moto shooting as well with the new Number One plate.

So, Thursday I took the 2 hour ferry ride over from Tswassen and DK met me at the ferry terminal for another 2 hour commute to his place in Campbell River. Every time I come over there I'm always amazed with how beautiful the place is. I can see why Dusty continues to live there despite it's isolation from the moto scene. We spent the afternoon getting the new graphics all stickered up on his bike and did a little work on his BMX jumps and just kicked back from there. The rest of the weekend was a blur as we were wide-open, shooting moto on friday and saturday morning at the Campbell River track and then shooting Dusty's jam on Saturday afternoon which was a blast. To cap it all off we headed to another sick BMX jump spot in Courtenay on the way back to the ferry on Sunday morning and shot for another few hours. It was an awesome weekend with great weather and though summer is coming to an end soon it was a great way to wind things down.

Here's some photos from the weekend.

Dusty gets his bike ready for it's makeover

His pit bike is left over from the Holeshot Honda days. Still rocking the old school 144.

The last time a bike of Dusty's will adorn a number 2 for this year.(OK, maybe not. Montreal SX is coming up)

Klatt applies his new digit

The Klatt pug farm.

The bike is all stickered up with the new graphics and ready to shoot.

Off to Dusty's jumps to do a little maintenance before the big jam.

Clearing some trees

The newest pug

Off to the track to shoot some moto photos. Stylish as always.

Getting flat for the camera.

He's got all the latest freestyle moves down.....not

Now it was time for the jam.

Getting stylie with a three in the trees.

Hitting the main line

Off to Courtenay on Sunday morning for some more BMX dirt action.

DK sends it on the wallride.

This place had power so I was able to set up my Elinchrom flash head. Threw some serious light at Dusty's one-footed table over the step up. Then it was time to head home.
