Managed to come home for one night after the Nanaimo national this week. It was a short turnaround as I was on the road Tuesday to the Allison's place outside Red Deer, Alberta. I was driving by myself, but the 13 hour drive flew by. I always love the drive from my place to Alberta and I'll never get sick of driving through the mountains so I was excited to take a different way and headed up the Icefields Parkway and over through to Rocky Mountain House.
Of course I stopped to take a few landscape photos and I must be getting a little jaded as at one of my stops to photograph some mountains there was a bear grazing a hundred feet away and I couldn't be bothered to take a photo. Probably has something to do with the twenty or so bears I've seen in the last couple weeks. Finally at 2 30 in the morning, after getting lost thanks to Billy Rainford's awesome directions, I pulled into the Allison family's farm near Delburne, Alberta and got a few hours sleep. Now I've been here for the past couple days and I can only say how awesome the whole family has been. It's families like the Allison's that truly make this sport so great. I've been having a blast exploring their old homestead looking for photo oppurtunities so I thought I'd share a few of my favorites from the past two days.
Now it's time to get ready to head down to Calgary in the morning and off to the next round!
Stopped along the Icefields Parkway on the way and took a few landscape shots.
I had Kyle's truck so I thought I'd get a shot for him with the mountains in the back as a keepsake.
The Allison's house
There's a hole in the road down the street. Parker checks out the depth.
There's an old World War Two 6x6 that was converted to a water truck in one of their old barns. It actually fired right up.
Parker and another of the old homestead buildings on their property.
Nathan Bles checks out a sweet old sidecar. We need to get this thing hooked up to a 450.
The Allison's used to hold the odd race at their backyard track.
Brent Allison's custom artwork - now this is just funny.
They've got an awesome track in their backyard.

Headed out to a nearby train bridge with Jared and grabbed this landscape shot along the walk.
The train bridge is crazy tall.

An impromptu distance rolling challenge broke out on the bridge.
Always looking for a challenge, it was game to see who could stay on the rail the longest.
Billy and Kyle take the side by side out to film for the DMX Canadian Motocross Weekly show.
Ripping around the track.
Jared and Parker waged an impromptu goon lap.
